goal of these classes is not to provide the student with training
in becoming a shaman. That's not possible. One does not become a
shaman by attending classes or weekend workshops.
What the classes ARE intended to do is provide information and
a working context within which students can learn to apply contemporary
shamanic practices and perspectives to their own everyday life.
Students should be prepared to actively engage and participate
in the classes. The purpose of each class is not only to provide
information, but is primarily to assist the student
in affecting change.
Each class is a 6-week series that includes assigned readings
and daily exercises, weekly online 'chat' with the teacher, and
online web-based resources for students only.
The weekly online chat is primarily a question and answer session
in which the student is assumed to have done the assigned work
during the week.
Optional materials include specific books and CDs. They are available
in most book and music outlets, and can also be purchased through
this site.

About the Teacher
Gerry Starnes, M.Ed., has facilitated classes,
events and workshops for more than 10 years. He holds regular classes
and presents a variety of workshops in Austin, Dallas, Houston and
San Antonio. He is among the most active TranceDance facilitators in
the US.
Gerry is a Founding
Member of the Society of Shamanic Practitioners, Executive Director
of Ravens
Grove Foundation for Healing, and co-owner of NiaSpace in
Austin.
